The Trapping Team aims to intercept and remove any predators within the sanctuary to allow native species to flourish, and to encourage more species from other sanctuaries to become established at Shakespear. Trappers are assigned a line of traps that are checked regularly. You can help

We are looking for volunteers to join the trapping team and need people who enjoy the outdoors and keeping fit. Different levels of fitness and time commitment can be catered for. Full training will be provided.

A trappers training course will be conducted at the Ranger Station, Te Haruhi Bay, Shakespear Regional Park. Your first trapping day will be with an experienced trapper to give you training on the trap locations and operation.
