This Sanctuary of New Zealand Aotearoa native flora and fauna is the most visited in New Zealand and most accessible in Auckland. It provides a safe environment for the native wildlife and vegetation as well as you being protected by a pest-proof fence.
There are 3 magnificent beaches providing picnic spots and several walks on tracks either through native bush or on pasture that provide extensive views of the Hauraki Gulf. Native birds including Tui, Kereru, Bellbirds, Fantails, Saddlebacks and Robins can be seen on these walks.
This is all within an hour of the harbour bridge by travelling north on state highway 1 to Silverdale and then to the end of Whangaparaoa Rd.
