Shakespear Park reopening celebration!
The pests have gone and the pest proof fence is working. Come and help us celebrate the reopening of the park and the creation of the Shakespear Open Sanctuary.
When: Sunday 4th December 2011
Time: 11am to 4pm
Programme
11:00 am - Guided walk. Meet at Waterfall Gully car park. Numbers are limited, first come first served. Possibility of tours in the afternoon.
11:00 am - Woolshed open. Photo display, sanctuary information, sale of Jeff Thomson limited edition artwork, John Kendrick Bird Call CD.
1:00 pm - BBQ and social gathering at the woolshed. Gold coin donation.
2:30 pm - Opening of our expanded native plant nursery and presentation to Rae and Barry.

YMCA Celebration
The YMCA are also celebrating the reopening of the Park at the same time and the 100 anniversary of the Shakespear Lodge. SOSSI members and supporters are invited to participate.
BBQ lunch and activities throughout the day including archery, climbing, sailing and kayaking. There will also be an opportunity to have a look around the historic Shakespear Lodge.
Discovery Tours
We have done several successful sanctuary discovery tours now, reaching several hundred students from different schools. We have had fabulous feedback - the students are learning lots and the volunteers are loving passing on their knowledge. This activity is also a good source of donations for the society. Please contact us if you would like to organise a discovery tour for your school.
We are planning to extend these tours to the wider community in the near future, so stay tuned and get in touch if you would like to register your interest.
