Shakespear Open Sanctuary gets go ahead for pest eradication

Independent commissioners have granted the Auckland Council resource consent to carry out animal pest eradication on a defined area of Shakespear Regional Park, by way of aerial bait application.

SOSSI features on Radio NZ

Allan Parker’s spent thirty years admiring the view from his house across Shakespear Regional Park on Auckland’s Whangaparaoa Peninsula. Since 2003, he’s been leading the campaign to turn the park into an open wildlife sanctuary, with the help of a big pack of volunteers.

SOSSI and its chairman Allan Parker graced the airwaves on a Radio NZ feature, first airing on 28 February 2010.
